Sound of Birmingham Underground

Whoa! Am I actually writing a new post?  It’s actually the first one in 2015 and the year is almost over…do you see those honey baked hams flying?!

Ok, seriously:

I went to an event last night that was so fresh that I had to write a post. When something cool is happening in Birmingham, I just get soooo excited that I even want your mama to know.

Before I even tell you what it was just  do me a favor and watch this video:

Do you feel the shivers running down your spine? That tall class of water is local artinista  Jazz’Mine Ja’Nis.

Whoa.

My soul is in love.#soundmate

Mind blown.

(I’m seriously trying to take her to dinner, so she can become my best friend… AND if you are in the mood for a good playlist check out her sound cloud: https://soundcloud.com/artintellmedia)

Where did I find her? At Mic Check 2015.

Mic Check

Mic Check is a platform that show cases up and coming independent talent.  As far as I can tell this is the show’s third year, and I can’t wait for next year. This event is definitely needed.  Before yesterday afternoon I had never heard of any of these people, and now I’m all about SLAP. (support local artist please!)

This year the show  also featured C1UB: AM (the group has opened for artist like Big Krit and Bubba Sparx). Definitely plan to follow up on their music. You have to listen to them, if you aren’t careful their lyrics might just go over your head. I thing even missed some things. #staywoke

I’m going to keep this short. If you like good music and you like to support those who are grinding to live out their passion, check out these artist. You can find links to their music here.

Oh! And there was also a cipher!

cypher or cipher is an informal gathering of rappers, beatboxers, and/or break-dancers in a circle, in order to jam musically together -via Wikipedia

2016 might just be the year to start blogging again….
